A Chinese national who is
offered a job in Singapore must obtain a work permit before taking up employment.
The prospective employer must apply to the Ministry of Manpower, Controller of Work
Permits for a work permit before employing the worker.
Employers may furnish the
security bond in the form of banker's guarantee, insurance guarantee, cheque or cash. The
security bond must be submitted to the Department before the worker arrives in Singapore.
Employment can only
commence after the workers have been granted in-principle approval by the Department and
the employers have furnished security bond of S$5,000 for each worker. With the
original in-principle letter and the original letter of acknowledgement of
receipt of security bond issued by the Department of Work Permit, the worker can approach
this Consulate-General for a visa to go to Singapore.
