APPLICATION/RENEWAL OF SINGAPORE PASSPORT

 

 

Applications for Singapore Passports may be submitted online using Application for Passport Online Electronic System (APPLE).  You will enjoy a S$10 rebate if you submit your application online.  (Online application is not applicable if you have lost your passport)

 

Alternatively, you may also submit your passport application through the Embassy.  All applications submitted through the Embassy will be referred to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority for processing.

 

Non Machine Readable Passports

 

Under the Patriot Act recently introduced by the United States of America (US), from 1 October 2003, Singaporeans visiting the US under the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP) are required to have a passport which is machine-readable. Singaporeans travelling under the VWP are not required to apply for and obtain a visa to enter the US.

 

Most Singaporeans are already holding passports that are machine-readable and can thus continue to enter the US without applying for a visa. However, there are some who are presently holding valid non-machine readable Singapore passports earlier issued by our overseas missions. Those holding such non-machine readable passports would have to apply for a US visa before travelling to the US.

 

Examples of Non Machine Readable Passports

 

Documents Required

 

1.   Original Passport

2.   One recent colour passport-sized photograph (Please see photograph requirements below)

3.   Application Form [IMM (E) 11 (OS)] duly completed.  Form may be obtained from the Embassy or downloaded online.

 

      If you have lost your passport, you must also produce the following documents:

 

      4.   Copy of police report or statutory declaration

      5.   Identity Card or Photocard Driver’s Licence or any other form of identity that can support your application

 

Photograph Requirement

 

Please affix one (1) recent passport-sized colour photograph on the completed application form. The photograph must be:

 

§         35 mm wide by 45 mm high without border and taken within the last three months;

§         taken full face without headgear, unless the applicant habitually wears a headgear in accordance with religious or racial customs. The headgear must not hide the applicant's facial features;

§         the facial image must be between 25 mm and 35 mm from chin to crown; and

§         taken against plain white background with a matt or semi-matt finish.

§         the image must not contain any shadow in the background.

 

Photographs that do not meet the requirements can result in delay in the application.

 

Submission

 

Applications may be submitted at the Embassy during consular office hours.  You are advised to telephone ahead for an appointment with the Consular Officer.

 

Fee

 

The following passport application fees apply:

 

Application Fee (New/Renewal)	US$43
Application Fee plus Surcharge for 1st replacement	US$74
Application Fee plus Surcharge for 2nd and subsequent replacements	US$105

 

Processing Time

 

The processing time for applications submitted through the Embassy is 3 to 4 weeks, provided the all the documents are in order.

 

Collection

 

      The Embassy will inform you once the passport is ready for collection. You will be required to present yourself in person to collect the passport. You will also need to bring along your existing passport which will be cancelled and returned to you.
