Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo, who is in New York for the 64th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, called on Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Dr Mohammed Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah in the morning of 27 September 2009. During the call, DPM Sheikh Dr Mohammad and Minister Yeo discussed ways to further enhance the good bilateral relations between Kuwait and Singapore, including the convening of the Joint Committee for Co-Operationin Kuwait City next year. Minister Yeo also looked forward to welcoming DPM Sheikh Dr Mohammed to Singapore next year in conjunction with the Second Full-Fledged Ministerial Meeting of ASEAN and the Gulf Cooperation Council. DPM Sheikh Dr Mohammad and Minister Yeo also exchanged views on developments in Asia and the Middle East.

In the afternoon of 27 September 2009, Minister Yeo visited US Representative Michael McMahon at his constitutency in Staten Island, New York, where Representative McMahon hosted a lunch reception in Minister Yeo's honour that was also attended by community leaders from Staten Island.
